Audrey & Wilson (Seattle, WA)

I adopted a new dog, around 2 years old, and he really started struggling when I left him home alone for any amount of time (destroying blinds on the windows, jumping and scratching at the front door, tearing up packages, and pulling papers off my desk). I would come home from even short trips out to find him worked up and panting/pacing, full blown anxiety. I found Jackie from a trainer in my local area who recommended that I specifically find an expert in separation anxiety. I've worked with Jackie for 6 weeks and as soon as we started I saw a difference in my dog's behavior. He took to Jackie's methodical approach really well and we are slowly progressing to longer durations of my being away. It is a slow process but I can see how much more calm he is and how he has become desensitized to routine things like me walking outside to take the trash out. He is now even calm when I get my keys and purse and head outside for 10 minutes or more (with garage doors opening and closing, etc). Jackie's system works and she does a great job of explaining a dog's behavior so that you can understand what your dog is telling you with their reaction to your actions. Jackie also has a seamless system set up for doing everything remote. I was on the west coast, and the time difference and geographical separation made no difference. We had zoom calls for assessments, shared documents for daily activities and notes, and had no issue at all not being in the same place. I'll recommend Jackie whenever I hear of someone struggling with separation anxiety in their dog, no matter where they happen to be in the world. I'm forever grateful we found her when we did!
